Round the Horn w Hopetoun Brown and Finn Scholes @ LEIGH SAWMILL CAFE
Jan 12 @ 9:30 pm – 11:45 pm

Hopetoun Brown and the genius of Finn Scholes set sail for an ambitious tour of the Hauraki Gulf Islands aboard a wooden double-ended ketch!

Leigh Sawmill represents the North Island stop and locals will marvel and point as Ponsonby’s finest brass players row ashore in a tiny dinghy brimmed full of tubas, trombones, saxophones and a giant clarinet.
Dance the night away as this hot-forged trio parp and stomp into the warm summer evening. Sing along as Finn fires up the Leigh Sawmill grand piano while Tim and Nick go blue in the face blowing into their antique wind instruments!
We’re looking forward to this one!!

Lonely Heartstring Band @ Whangateau Hall
Jan 29 @ 7:00 pm

Coming straight from their engagement as a headline act at the Auckland Folk Festival, the Lonely Heartstring Band bring world class bluegrass excellence to Whangateau.

What people are saying about Lonely Heartstring Band:

“These are musicians of dynamic imagination and massive musical talent. However, the music on their album feels as comfortable as a pair of long-worn leather slippers. A fascinating debut.” – Tom Clarke, Elmore Magazine

“With George Clement’s soothing vocals leading the way, The Lonely Heartstring Band achieves one of the highest callings of music’s true purpose. – Gregory Victor, Parcbench”

“Original, effusive songs compose the bulk of the album, words bursting forth in staccatos of whimsy and rhyme.” – Donald Teplyske, Lonesome Road Review

Aro and the Low Low at the Sawmill Cafe

ARO are a husband & wife soul-pop duo who are travelling the country sharing their stories in song. Having just completed a campground tour they are now bringing the vibes to Leigh Sawmill.

Harking to the incisive alt-pop of St. Vincent, the plaintive 60s-influenced melodies of Harry Nilsson, and the inventive vocal work of Kate Bush, The LOW LOW brings a buoyant, off-kilter approach to classic pop.
